American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy refused to become co-director of the new US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) because of different views with billionaire Ilon Musk. This was reported by The Washington Post on January 22, citing sources.

"Deep philosophical differences on the topic of how the group should work, spurred Ramaswamy to leave," the material said.

According to the publication, the two businessmen were in agreement on the idea of cuts in the government, but pursued incompatible and competing strategies to achieve the goal. In particular, Ramaswamy studied the possibility of legally closing agencies without congressional approval, while Musk was not interested in this and considered DOGE from a "technological point of view."

In addition, Ramaswamy envisioned the structure as a non-governmental entity, while Musk wanted to operate as part of a small group from within the government.

Earlier, on January 20, Trump took the oath of office, becoming the 47th president of the United States. At the inauguration ceremony, he declared the beginning of "America's golden age." Since taking office, he has signed more than 200 executive orders, including the establishment of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Before that, on January 15, WP wrote that Trump urged Ramaswamy to accept the post of senator from Ohio if offered. The entrepreneur withdrew his candidacy when Trump announced in November 2024 that he and Musk would lead DOGE.
