Putin reappoints Krasnov as Russia's Prosecutor General


Russian President Vladimir Putin has reappointed Igor Krasnov to the post of Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation for five years. The decree of the head of state was published on January 22 on the official portal of legal information.
"To appoint Igor Viktorovich Krasnov to the post of Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation," the text reads.
The document comes into force from the day of signing.
Krasnov was appointed head of the Prosecutor General's office on January 22, 2020. Before that, he held the post of deputy chairman of the Investigative Committee. According to Russian legislation, the Prosecutor General is appointed for five years by the President after consultations with the Federation Council.
