It is specified that during the incident 76 people died, 51 more suffered.

A large-scale night fire at the resort in Bolu occurred on the night of January 21. According to CNN Türk, the fire started in a wooden hotel located at an altitude of 2,200 meters at around 3:30 a.m. and the fire spread quickly. There were nearly 240 guests in the building that caught fire.

Bolu Governor Abdulaziz Aydın later said the fire had been largely brought under control.

Russian President Vladimir Putin offered his Turkish counterpart Recep Erdogan, relatives and friends of the victims condolences over the tragic consequences of the fire. The Russian leader also conveyed wishes for a speedy recovery to all the injured.

Erdogan declared January 22 a day of mourning in the country after a fire at a ski resort. An investigation into the incident has been launched. Four people, including the owner of the resort, have also been detained.
