Patrushev announced the growth of raw milk production in Russia to 34 million tons in 2024

Raw milk production in Russia in 2024 increased by 200 thousand tons. Thus, the volume of finished product amounted to 34 million tons. This was reported on January 22 by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev during the XVI Congress of the National Union of Milk Producers in Moscow.

"Stable growth in your industry continues. In 2024, our production of raw milk amounted to 34 million tons, by the year it is plus 200 thousand tons, which corresponds to previously announced forecasts, that is, what volumes we, in fact, planned to achieve, we have achieved them," - he said.

As Patrushev pointed out, traditionally about 70% of the production volume falls on the organized sector. According to him, the positive dynamics of growth in 2024 is maintained in the main categories of dairy products.

"In particular, we have increased the production of drinking milk. Production of sour milk products, cheese, yogurt has been increased. Well, and our favorite export product, ice cream, - here, too, we have increased production volumes," said Deputy Prime Minister.

In case the situation in dairy production contradicts the stability of the domestic market, the Russian government will immediately limit food exports, he said.

"Control over ensuring the economic availability of basic foodstuffs continues. And if the situation develops not in favor of the stability of our own market, we have leverage. Among other things, they relate to possible export restrictions. But, you must agree, we do not want to lose overnight the markets that we have conquered together for so many years," Patrushev said.

In November 2024, a market source told Izvestia that the largest dairy producers started updating their pricing policy for socially important products as a result of negotiations with retail chains and regulatory authorities.
