Military and political departments will be established in diesel submarine formations of the Russian Navy. They will be staffed by three deputy police officers. The officers will have to accompany submarine crews during combat missions, sources in the Russian Defense Ministry told Izvestia.

The departments will begin to be staffed with deputy police officers in February this year, the sources told Izvestia.

According to them, the experience of the special military operation (SMO) and combat service of ships and submarines has shown that servicemen need such specialists. The deputy police officers will have to explain to the personnel the significance of the decisions of the country's top military-political leadership, including the goals and tasks to be solved by the Russian Armed Forces during the special military operation.

Military-political work on ships and submarines needs to be strengthened, believes military expert, Captain First Rank Vasily Dandykin.

"Submariners have a hard job associated with many risks and stresses. A person who would help the commander to maintain the working atmosphere in the crew is needed. Submariners have to explain the situation in the world and the country, to engage in propaganda in a good sense of the word. A hybrid war has been unleashed against Russia, so the moral and psychological stability of soldiers and sailors is of particular importance. The officers-deputy police officers will also have to provide psychological support to the crew members, they will have to know how the sailors live, to help them in a difficult moment," he told Izvestia.
