Sakhalin attack aircraft have hit a command post of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the southern Donetsk region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 22.

It is specified that during the storming of the stronghold a non-residential three-story house, where the command center of the AFU was located, was on the way of the Sakhalin fighters of the Vostok group of troops.

Since there was a firing point on the roof of the house, the Sakhaliners could not get close to the well-fortified building. Therefore, the commander of the assault group with the call sign Mir stealthily approached the building and hit the machine gun crew on the roof with fire from a RPG-7B hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher.

Under cover of the gunmen, the attackers threw an anti-tank mine into the building, hitting about a dozen Ukrainian servicemen.

"They just drop their stuff, run away. They don't have a special command, there's no such thing as them being there for each other. They just run, throw their stuff, run away. That was the only place where they held out, because they had a very strong fortification there. They had a basement, they had everything, it was just a very heavily defended place. But we also took it thanks to our commander with the call sign Mir," said a serviceman of the assault unit with the call sign Shaman.

The soldiers of the assault group, including the commander, were presented with state awards for their courage and bravery shown in the performance of the combat task.

Earlier, on January 13, fighters of the Volga Cossack artillery regiment spoke about their work to drive the AFU fighters out of Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). Russian scouts identify the target, calculate the coordinates and time for the strike in the command center, and then the artillerymen deploy the D-20 cannon and support the attackers with fire.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
