The Central Bank is being asked to oblige banks to compensate citizens for losses from fraudsters. The appeal with such a request was sent to the head of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina by the head of the faction "Fair Russia - For Truth" Sergei Mironov. The document was familiarized with "Izvestia".

It notes, according to the statistics of the Bank of Russia in the first quarter of 2024 fraudsters managed to steal from citizens 4.3 billion rubles, the amount of losses of Russians by 8% exceeded the average rate of theft in 2023.
"This information shows the need to introduce additional measures to protect and support citizens affected by the actions of fraudsters," the appeal notes.
"With the help of special technologies, they take people out of balance. In fact, "hack" their consciousness. Not only depositors and bank card holders with low financial literacy suffer from this, but also citizens who are aware of the use of these cunning techniques. The problem is acute, and I believe that the state must take urgent measures to protect citizens," Sergei Mironov explained to "Izvestia" the need for new measures.
Earlier, on December 19 last year, in the coordination center of domains .RU/.RF told "Izvestia" that at the end of 2024 attacks of fraudsters on users of messenger Telegram increased 19 times. In November-December, their number amounted to more than a thousand, while in the same period of 2023, only 54 cases were recorded. Attackers use a variety of schemes to hack into users' accounts: fake social payments for holidays, New Year sales, cheap tickets to Christmas trees, concerts and performances.
