Explosions erupted in Kiev amid an air alert. This was reported on January 21 by the Ukrainian edition "Strana.ua".

"Reported explosions on the left bank of Kiev. Possible work of air defense," - said in a statement in the Telegram-channel.

It is reported that the air alert is also in effect in Dnipropetrovsk, Kiev, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions.

Earlier, on January 18, explosions went off in Kiev amid the air alert. According to the online map of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the air alert was declared in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava and Kharkiv regions.

On the same day, it was reported that there was an explosion in the city of Pavlograd in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine. The Russian Defense Ministry also did not comment on the information about the explosions.

Russian troops in October 2022 began strikes on military facilities and related energy and communications facilities in Ukraine. As explained by Russian President Vladimir Putin, this was a response to the terrorist actions of the Kiev regime.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
