A semblance of winter can be expected in Moscow this week. This was announced by the head of the Meteo forecasting center Alexander Shuvalov on Tuesday, January 21.

"And the snowball will again appear on the streets and in the fields, and the temperature will acquire a more dignified for January look. And the thaw will recede. Tomorrow morning it will be -8 degrees and the sun will peek out. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday it will snow," - said the forecaster in conversation with "Radio 1".

The expert added that from January 23, the temperature is expected to rise again, and the slight frost will last only a couple of days.

"It turns out, two relatively cold days, when the temperature will almost approach or even cross the curve of the climatic norm. And then again the temperature rise, but so far, not before the thaw," Shuvalov concluded.

Earlier in the day, Shuvalov spoke to RT about February weather in the capital.

According to one of the meteorological models, the temperature in the capital and the Moscow region may drop to -20... -25 degrees Celsius at the beginning of the month. Shuvalov confirmed that accurate forecasts on severe frosts and snowfalls in Moscow in the last winter month can be made closer to the beginning of February, reports 360.ru.

In turn, the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand urged Moscow residents not to wait for snowdrifts in January. According to forecasts, the air temperature will be high. By the end of the week it will exceed the norm by 7-8 degrees.
