Putin expressed condolences to Erdogan after people died in a resort fire

Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered condolences to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in connection with the death of people in a fire at the ski resort Kartalkaya in Bolu province. This is reported on the Kremlin website on January 21.

"Dear Mr. President, please accept deep condolences in connection with the tragic consequences of the fire that occurred at a ski resort in Bolu province," Putin's address reads.

The Russian leader asked Erdogan to convey words of sympathy and support to the relatives and loved ones of those who died at the resort, and wishes to all the injured to recover as soon as possible.

A large-scale overnight fire at a resort in Bolu occurred on the night of January 21. According to the latest data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey, as a result of the incident killed 66 people, suffered another 51, recalls "Gazeta.Ru".

According to CNN Türk, the fire began in a wooden hotel located at an altitude of 2,2 thousand meters, about 3:30 am, the flames spread quickly. Nearly 240 guests were inside the premises. Numerous fire brigades, rescue teams and medics were dispatched to the province.

Bolu Governor Abdulaziz Aydin said the fire has been largely brought under control. Two victims are in serious condition. The Russian Embassy in Turkey said there was no information about Russians staying at the resort. The diplomatic mission added that it was in contact with local authorities in connection with the incident.
