Russian Defense Ministry shows footage of liberation of Volkovo settlement in DNR

On January 21, the Russian Defense Ministry published a video from the liberated village of Volkovo in the Donetsk People's Republic.

The footage shows a Russian flag being hoisted on one of the buildings.

The agency specified that the settlement was liberated by servicemen of motorized rifle, artillery and tank units of the Center group of troops.

The liberation of Volkovo became known earlier in the day. The Russian Armed Forces also defeated the Ukrainian army brigades' manpower and equipment in the areas of Shcherbinovka, Petrovka, Dzerzhinsk, Lysovka, Baranovka, Slavyanka, Novoelyzavetovka, Solenoye, Novoalexandrovka and Novovasilievka.

The day before, the Russian army liberated the Shevchenko settlement in the DNR, as well as Novolegorovka in the Luhansk People's Republic.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
