State Duma passed a bill on fines of up to 2 million rubles for selling vapes to children

The State Duma (GD) of Russia has considered the draft law on fines of up to 2 million rubles for the sale of vape devices to children in the third reading and decided to adopt it. This is reported on January 21 in the database of bills on the website of the State Duma.

"The State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation decides: to adopt the Federal Law "On Amendments to the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Offenses" (draft No. 782111-8)", - stated in the draft resolution of the legislative body, published in the base.

Further the law will be transferred to the Federation Council for consideration.

Before that, on December 18, 2024, the State Duma approved the bill in the first reading. According to the document, the fine for the sale of tobacco, vape, electronic cigarettes and hookahs to children for ordinary citizens will be in the range of 200-300 thousand rubles, for officials will be up to 500-700 thousand rubles, for legal entities - up to 1.5-2 million rubles. If the violation is repeated, the culprit will be criminally liable, reports "Gazeta.Ru".

On the same day, a deputy of the Bryansk Regional Duma, chairman of the All-Russian public movement "Orthodox Russia" Mikhail Ivanov in a conversation with "Izvestia" called the increase in fines for the sale of vape devices to children a necessary step, which will make sellers more responsible, will give society a clear signal that the state is serious about fighting bad habits and, most importantly, will help reduce nicotine consumption among young people. The deputy pointed out that this problem is now very acute.

The State Duma adopted the bill in the second reading on January 17.
