Russian air defence systems have destroyed eight drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) over the waters of the Black Sea and the Republic of Crimea, the Russian Defence Ministry has said on 21 January. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 21.

"On January 21 this year, between 11:00 and 11:50 Moscow time, on-duty air defense means intercepted and destroyed 11 Ukrainian drones," the ministry said.

Of these, eight were shot down over the Black Sea and Crimea, while the other three were shot down over the Belgorod region.

Earlier in the day, the ministry said that over the Black Sea and Crimea, air defense forces shot down three Ukrainian drones between 10:45 and 11:00 Moscow time.

In addition, air defense forces destroyed 55 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions last night. It is specified that 22 of them - over the territory of the Bryansk region, 12 - over the territory of the Rostov region, 10 - over the territory of the Smolensk region, six drones - over the territory of the Voronezh region, four - over the territory of the Saratov region and one more - over the territory of the Kursk region.

Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the backdrop of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
