Spanish minister Diaz to leave X over Musk's gesture
Spain's Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Employment Yolanda Diaz is leaving the social network X (former Twitter), owned by the entrepreneur, head of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Ilon Musk, because of his "Nazi gesture" at the inauguration of American President Donald Trump. She said on the same social network on January 21.
"Last night, the whole world witnessed Ilon Musk imitating a Nazi salute during Donald Trump's inauguration. This shocking image prompted me to make a decision that I had been mulling over for months," she stated.
Diaz noted that, in her opinion, Musk has been using X as a means to achieve political goals for months now. She also recalled that a number of politicians have stopped using the platform because they see it as a threat to democracy.
Earlier in the day, The Guardian reported that during a speech at the inauguration of the American president, Musk showed a gesture similar to a fascist greeting - he hit himself with his right hand in the chest and then raised it up diagonally.
On January 20, Trump's inauguration took place. The main topic of the speech of the 47th president of the United States was the internal problems of the country and the defense of their borders. At the same time, he promised that the strength of the United States will allow to "end all wars" and ensure unity in the world, and also announced the beginning of the "golden age of America".
