Russia's Pavlyuchenkova lost to Sobolenko in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open
Russian tennis player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova lost to Belarusian and world number one Arina Sobolenko on January 21 in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
The meeting was held in Melbourne and ended with the score 2:6, 6:2, 3:6 in favor of the representative of Belarus. The sportswomen were on court for 1 hour and 53 minutes.
Pavlyuchenkova (27th seed number) managed to become the first tennis player since 2023 to win a set against Sobolenko at the Open.
Next, Sobolenko will play against No. 11 seed Paula Badosa of Spain in a match to advance to the final of the tournament.
Earlier, on January 19, Sobolenko defeated Russian Mirra Andreeva in the fourth round match of the Australian Open. The game lasted 1 hour 2 minutes and ended with the score 1:6, 2:6.
