Central University and the Alliance for Artificial Intelligence (AI) have started preparing two school teams for the International AI Olympiad to be held in China in August. This was reported in the university.

88 students from Russia and CIS countries will be trained. Among them are the winners of Russian championships and competitions in AI last year.

Central University has developed a special training program aimed at gaining knowledge in the field of neural networks, natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision (CV). Last year the university already prepared the Russian team for the first International AI Olympiad, from which the children returned with a victory, having beaten rivals from 39 countries by a large margin.

The first stage of preparation for the Olympiad will take place in an online format. The students will be offered weekly webinars, Kaggle competitions, and sessions with soft skills experts for effective teamwork.

In April, training camps will be organized, based on the results of which experts will select eight people for further training.

According to Evgeny Ivashkevich, rector of Central University, the university has more than 50 partner companies, many of them united in the Alliance in the field of AI, which includes T-Bank, Sber, Yandex, and VK. "Their knowledge base, scientific discoveries, continuous development and impressive achievements in the field of artificial intelligence, combined with our experience, the involvement of coaches and the diligence of the guys who will make it to the national team, open up great prospects for future victories," the rector emphasized.

Maxim Eremenko, Vice President and Director of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Development at Sberbank, believes that such initiatives help the younger generation to develop and improve, as well as demonstrate to the world the potential of Russian science and education. "This is a truly unique opportunity to show how competitive we are in the international arena," Eremenko added.
