Peskov said there were no preparations for a phone call between Putin and Trump
The Kremlin is not yet preparing a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, Russian leader's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on January 21.
"Not yet," he told TASS.
Thus the Kremlin spokesman responded to the question whether Trump's team has made contact with Moscow and whether the preparation of the conversation between the heads of state has begun.
On the eve of the new US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the end of the conflict in Ukraine a priority for Trump. According to him, "part of the preparatory work" has begun.
Earlier in the day, CNN reported, citing sources, that Trump instructed to organize a phone conversation with Putin a few days after the inauguration.
Trump was inaugurated on January 20, taking the oath of office and becoming the 47th president of the United States. After that, he reiterated that he planned to meet with Putin as soon as possible and discuss the conflict in Ukraine.
