Russia and China are working to ensure indivisible security in Eurasia and the world as a whole. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during video link talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping on January 21.

The Russian leader noted that the interaction between Russia and China is not influenced by the political situation.

"I agree with you that cooperation between Moscow and Beijing is based on a broad commonality of national interests and coincidence of views on what relations between major powers should be," Putin said.

He also emphasized that ties between the countries are built on the principles of friendship, trust and support, equality and mutual benefit.

In addition, the Russian president emphasized that the past year turned out to be successful for Russia and China. Putin expressed gratitude to Xi Jinping for supporting Russia's BRICS chairmanship.

"It is safe to say that foreign policy communication and joint work between Russia and China objectively play an important stabilizing role in international affairs," the Russian president said.

On the same day, Xi Jinping said that China is ready to take relations with Russia to a new height in 2025. He also recalled that last year he met with the Russian leader three times - in Beijing, Astana and Kazan.

Prior to that, during a direct line on December 19, 2024, Putin noted that Russian-Chinese interaction has become in recent decades what it has never been before. He attributed this primarily to the development of relations between the two countries based on mutual trust.

In the same month, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that three meetings between Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2024 had helped deepen cooperation between the countries.
