Putin said the revival of fascism is inadmissible
The ideology of fascism, Nazism and militarism must not be allowed to raise its head again. Russian President Vladimir Putin said this on January 21 during video talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
"We cannot allow the ideology of fascism, Nazism and militarism to raise its head again. It is important, together with our other like-minded people, to carefully preserve and defend the historical truth," he said.
In addition, Putin said that in 2025 the Russian Federation is preparing to honorably celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
"The memory of it (the victory. - Ed.) is sacred for the peoples of our countries, who fought a bloody struggle against aggressors and defeated the enemy at the cost of incalculable sacrifices," the Russian president emphasized.
At the end of December 2024, Putin declared 2025 the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland. The decision was made in honor of the participants of the special military operation and in memory of the exploits of all ancestors. At the same time, he called to promote as a global value the victory over Nazism in 1945.
On December 19, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Russia would invite representatives of the anti-Hitler coalition countries to the Victory Day celebrations. Before that, on November 28, Putin invited military units of the CSTO countries to take part in the Victory Day parade on May 9 on Red Square in Moscow.
In 2025, May 9 marks 80 years since the victory in the Great Patriotic War. In January 1945, the USSR army launched an offensive on Berlin. As a result of the fighting at 00:43 Moscow time on May 9, the commanders-in-chief signed an act of unconditional surrender of Germany, which served as the end of the Great Patriotic War.
