Xi Jinping says China ready to take relations with Russia to new heights
China is ready to take relations with Russia to a new height in 2025. This was stated by Chinese President Xi Jinping on January 21.
"In the new year, together with you, we are ready to take China-Russia relations to a new height, to confront external uncertainty on the basis of preserving stability and stress-resistant China-Russia relations for the sake of development and prosperity of the countries, international justice and equality," he said at the talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the videoconference format.
Xi Jinping recalled that last year he met with the Russian leader three times - in Beijing, Astana and Kazan. In addition, in 2024 the parties solemnly celebrated the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia. The Chinese President also pointed to the close cooperation between Moscow and Beijing within the UN, SCO, BRICS and other international platforms.
Putin responded by welcoming the Chinese leader and agreed with him.
During a direct line on December 19 last year, the Russian president noted that Russian-Chinese interaction has become in recent decades what it has never been before. He attributed this primarily to the development of relations between the two countries on the basis of mutual trust.
In the same month, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi noted that the three meetings between Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2024 had helped deepen cooperation between the countries.
