Russian air defense forces destroyed 165 AFU drones over Russian territory in 24 hours

The Russian Air Defense Forces have destroyed 156 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the territory of Russia. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 21.

"Air defense means shot down four Hammer guided aerial bombs made in France, six HIMARS multiple rocket launchers made in the United States and 156 unmanned aerial vehicles of aircraft type, including 55 outside the area of the special military operation," the ministry said in a statement.

In addition, the Russian army, with the help of operational-tactical aviation, attack drones, missile troops and artillery, struck a power facility that supports the Ukrainian military-industrial complex, infrastructure of military airfields, places of assembly and storage of unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as concentrations of enemy manpower and equipment in 148 areas.

In addition, units of the "North" group of forces in the Kharkiv direction struck the formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) near the locality of Volchansk. As a result of the actions of the Russian army, the AFU lost up to 60 servicemen, a tank, an armored combat vehicle, two vehicles and four field artillery guns.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, in total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the Russian army has destroyed more than 30,000 military vehicles of the Kiev regime.

On the same day, UAV operators of the Vostok group of troops destroyed self-propelled artillery installations of the AFU in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). In addition, Russian scouts, supporting the advance of assault units deep into the defense of Ukrainian formations, identified and hit a tank, two armored combat vehicles, engineering equipment and personnel of the Ukrainian army.

The special operation to defend Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
