Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin had a video conversation, China Central Television reported on January 21.

It is noted that the Chinese leader got in touch with his Russian counterpart while in Beijing's House of People's Congress (parliament).

At the beginning of the conversation, the Chinese leader noted that he was very happy to see his Russian counterpart on the eve of the Chinese New Year, which will come on February 10. Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Russia reached a series of important agreements last year, marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

"The relationship, the core of which is eternal good-neighborliness and friendship, comprehensive strategic interaction, mutually beneficial cooperation and win-win, is gaining new vitality," the Chinese president said.

In December last year, Putin noted that Russian-Chinese interaction has become in recent decades what it has never been before. He attributed this primarily to the development of relations between the two countries on the basis of mutual trust.

On December 17, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi noted that three meetings between Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2024 had contributed to deepening cooperation between the countries. On December 13, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced its intention to strengthen dialog with China and coordination on missile aspects of strategic stability.
