On the shore of the Azov Sea in the Krasnodar region after the accident with tankers again recorded emissions of fuel oil, the monitoring zone of beaches has been extended to 265 km. About it on Tuesday, January 21, reported the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar region.

"In the area of the tract Kuchugury in the Slavyansk district on the shore found fractions of oil products - small pieces of fuel oil and clumps of algae mixed with oil products. The territory was included in the permanent monitoring", - stated in the message of the headquarters in Telegram-channel.

It is noted that by Tuesday morning specialists managed to remove 6 km of the coast and collect 150 kg of contaminated soil. The work involves 65 people and seven units of equipment.

Earlier, on January 16, the head of the group of development projects "Skoltech" Vladimir Kalyaev, involved in the elimination of the accident, told "Izvestia" that in the area of the oil spill on the coast of the Black and Azov seas fuel emissions from tankers will continue. A large amount of fuel oil accumulations remain at a depth of up to 150 meters, from time to time they float up and create new pollution zones, he explained.

The tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024 due to bad weather. The incident resulted in a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group was set up to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.

Later, on January 3, an oil slick was discovered in Sevastopol at the entrance to Balaklava Bay. The next day it was reported about the advance of fuel oil to the north along the Crimean coast, and Sevastopol declared a state of emergency of regional character.

On January 11, the emergency threat regime of a municipal nature was introduced due to the identified fuel oil stains in the Chernomorsky district in the west of Crimea.
