There were 291 traffic accidents in Russia over the past day

Over the past 24 hours, 291 traffic accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 30 people were killed and 341 injured. 22 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Tuesday, January 21, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 122 traffic accidents involving pedestrians, eight people died, another 118 were injured of varying severity. Among the victims are 22 child pedestrians, 18 of whom were injured at crosswalks. Of the total number of accidents with pedestrians, 68 occurred at crosswalks and 54 outside their zone of action.

On the roads of Russia there were 20 accidents involving buses, in which two people died, another 30 road users, including three minors, required medical assistance. Nine accidents involving buses were caused by violations of traffic rules committed by their drivers. In 11 cases, other road users caused the accident.
There were 35 accidents involving minors, in which 34 young road users were injured, including 17 passengers. One child passenger died.

Thus, in Nizhny Novgorod region on the highway of regional importance the driver of a passenger car in the conditions of snowfall drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with another passenger car, after which his car was ignited. From the impact, the perpetrator of the car accident was thrown out of the vehicle on the roadway. As a result of the accident, three passengers in the burned-out car were killed, including a boy born in 2024, who was in the back seat on the left in a child restraint device. Both drivers and a passenger in the second car were hospitalized with serious injuries.

When planning long-distance trips in winter conditions, the State Automobile Inspectorate recommends motorists to keep an eye on the weather forecast. In case of a negative forecast should refrain from traveling until the weather conditions improve, and in the city to use the services of public transportation.

In conditions of limited visibility and winter weather, especially in the early morning, evening or night time, the State Automobile Inspectorate urges not to exceed the authorized speed limit and avoid risky manner of driving. Before leaving, you should always check the technical condition of your vehicle, the operation of lights, "wipers", braking system, the presence of tires in season and the filling of the fuel tank.

"We urge drivers in conditions of snowfall, blizzard, strong wind, ice and limited visibility to reduce speed and increase the distance to the vehicle ahead, as well as to refuse frequent rearrangements, avoid sharp maneuvers and overtaking, strictly comply with the requirements of traffic rules related to the start of traffic, rearrangement, turn, turn and stop. Not only your personal life and health, but also the lives and health of your passengers and other road users depend on compliance with all these elementary measures of motor transport safety," - said "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of road safety propaganda and prevention of child traffic injuries of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.

The day before it was reported that the State Duma has prepared a bill, according to which it is proposed to increase the limit of insurance payments under CMTPL insurance from 500 thousand to 650 thousand rubles in terms of compensation for damage to life and health of victims and from 400 thousand to 520 thousand rubles in terms of compensation for damage to property.
