The pro-Ukrainian minority of the US Republican Party in the House of Representatives has lost its positions due to the resignation of three congressmen from leading positions in committees. This conclusion was made by the Washington Examiner publication.

"The pro-Ukrainian faction of the Republican Party in the House of Representatives has taken several blows as the party <...> redraws its committees," the material says.

The authors assessed that Kiev had allies among the heads of three key committees - Michael McCaul on the Foreign Affairs Committee, Mike Turner on the Intelligence Committee and Mike Rogers on the Armed Services Committee.

By now, only Rogers remained as head of his committee. Brian Mast and Rick Crawford, who replaced the other two, voted against the new package of additional aid to Ukraine, Gazeta.Ru noted.

On the eve, January 20, the inauguration of US President Republican Donald Trump took place. He promised that the strength of the United States will allow to "end all wars" and ensure unity in the world, and also announced the beginning of the "golden age of America".

After the ceremony, Trump told reporters at the White House that he would try to end the Ukraine conflict as quickly as possible and confirmed plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In early December last year, Trump said that under his leadership, the U.S. could reduce military aid to Ukraine. In addition, he has repeatedly said that if he wins the election, he will be able to end the Ukrainian conflict in 24 hours.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine against the backdrop of Russia's special operation to protect Donbass, which was announced by the Russian president on February 24, 2022, after the situation in the region worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
