Austrian analyst says Trump is capable of ending the conflict in Ukraine
US President Donald Trump is capable of ending the conflict in Ukraine, as the politician significantly influences decisions in the area of support for the Kiev regime. Austrian geopolitical analyst Patrick Poppel told Izvestia on January 21.
"We should realize that the development of events in Europe depends to a large extent on decisions made in the United States. The conflict in Ukraine, in particular, will not be completed thanks to Europe's actions, but only as a result of the US decision to continue its support for Kiev or to stop it," the analyst said.
He noted that the strategic plan of action is always dictated by the States. Poppel also highlighted two positions Trump could take to end the conflict.
In his opinion, either the American leader will resort to tougher measures for the Russian side and supply Kiev with a large number of weapons to escalate the conflict, or completely stop supporting the Kiev regime, which will significantly complicate Ukraine's situation.
The analyst also added that if Europe decides to continue the conflict without US involvement, it would be a "very foolish move."
Earlier, on January 20, Trump did not mention Russia and Ukraine in his inauguration speech. The main topic of the president-elect's speech was the internal problems of the United States and the defense of its borders. Among other things, Trump promised in the speech to return the Panama Canal to the United States and to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the American Gulf. At the same time, in his speech at the Capitol, Trump said that the strength of the United States will allow to "end all wars" and ensure unity in the world.
Prior to that, Trump took the oath of office in the Capitol rotunda, becoming the 47th president of the United States. Along with him, Vice President Jay Dee Vance was sworn in. This is Trump's second term as president, the first time he was the American leader from 2017-2021. In his inaugural speech, the new US president announced the beginning of the "golden age of America".
The election of the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while former US Vice President Kamala Harris received 47.4%. Speaking to supporters, the Republican said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.
