A cargo dropped from an American Osprey convertible was blown by the wind into the sea during a training exercise in Japan. This was reported by Kyodo agency on January 21 with reference to a representative of Okinawa prefecture.

"Transport aircraft MV-22 tried to drop cargo on the airfield on the island of Ie during the exercises on Thursday (January 16. - Ed.), but the container with an area of 1.3 square meters was blown off course due to an unexpected change in the wind," - stated in the material.

It is specified that the container weighed about 400-450 kg. U.S. troops searched the adjacent waters, but the cargo could not be found.

Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani called the incident "regrettable" and called on the U.S. to ensure safety. To initiate an investigation demanded and the Governor of Okinawa Denny Tamaki, specifies "Gazeta.Ru".

"This incident is just a step away from a serious tragedy. It causes concern among the population," he noted.

Earlier, January 9, Air & Space Forces Magazine reported that the fuel tank of an F-16 fighter jet fell on a residential area in the state of Florida. It is noted that its volume was 300 gallons. As a result of the incident, no one was injured.
