In the Smolensk region announced the threat of attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This was announced by the Governor of the region Vasily Anokhin on Tuesday, December 21.

"There is a danger of UAVs in the Smolensk region! In case of work [air defense systems] of air defense, keep calm. Avoid open spaces," Anokhin wrote in his Telegram channel.

He also asked Smolensk residents not to approach aircraft wreckage and to report when they are detected.

Earlier, on January 18, Anokhin reported the elimination of five UAVs over the Smolensk region. Anokhin specified that no one was injured as a result of the fall of UAV fragments. He also added that there was no destruction.

Prior to that, on January 17, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian air defense means destroyed seven Ukrainian drones in the sky over the Bryansk region.

Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the backdrop of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
