Sandu expressed hope for stronger cooperation during Trump's presidency
Moldovan President Maia Sandu on January 20 expressed hope for the strengthening of Moldovan-US cooperation during Donald Trump's presidency.
"Best wishes to Donald Trump during his tenure as the 47th President of the United States. Moldova cherishes its strong relationship with the US and looks forward to working together to strengthen security, energy cooperation and prosperity for both countries," she wrote on X (former Twitter).
Earlier in the day, Trump took the oath of office in the Capitol rotunda, becoming the 47th president of the United States. Along with him, Vice President Jay Dee Vance was sworn in. This is Trump's second term as president, the first time he was the American leader from 2017-2021. In his inaugural speech, the new US president announced the beginning of the "golden age of America".
Before the ceremony, Trump and his wife Melania attended a tea party at the White House with outgoing President Joe Biden and his wife Jill.
The election of the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5. In the popular vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris received 47.4%. Speaking to supporters, the Republican said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.
