U.S. President-elect Donald Trump arrived at the White House on January 20 with his wife Melania for a traditional tea party with outgoing President Joe Biden and his wife Jill.

The broadcast of Trump's arrival at the White House was carried by CNN.

After the tea party, both couples will go to the inauguration ceremony, which will be held at 12:00 Washington time (20:00 Moscow time).

Earlier in the day, political scientist Ruslan Andreev spoke to Izvestia about Trump's expectation of two years of absolute power, but the Democrats will not give up without a fight in the congressional elections.

At the same time, the day before, Biden said during a speech in South Carolina that he is not tired and "will not go anywhere". The politician also noted that he is passionate about work, as in his 29 years.

Before that, on January 15, Biden made a farewell 17-minute speech, addressing the nation. During the speech, he pointed out the dangers of strengthening the oligarchy, proposed to change the U.S. Constitution and said that he had managed to preserve the freedom of Ukraine. At the same time, the speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson called Biden's legacy the migration crisis, persecution of opponents and strengthening of Washington's enemies.

The election of the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5, 2024. In the popular vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while the Democratic candidate, incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris received 47.4%.
