Peskov commented on Trump's words about Ovechkin's greatness

Russian hockey player and captain of the Washington Capitals team Alexander Ovechkin is perceived in the United States as a great hockey player of American hockey. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on January 20.

"He is perceived as a great hockey player of American hockey. It has nothing to do with our audience," the Russian leader's spokesman said in an interview withSport-Express.

This is how Peskov reacted to a question regarding the words of US President-elect Donald Trump, who earlier in the day, speaking to his supporters in Washington, called Ovechkin a great player.

Earlier, on January 17, it was reported that Ovechkin scored the puck in overtime of the regular season National Hockey League (NHL) match against the Ottawa Senators, thus reducing the gap to Canadian Wayne Gretzky to 20 goals. Ovechkin's puck was the only one of the game. It helped Washington win the away game.
