As part of a mixed tactical aviation unit, an Army aviation crew on a Ka-52M helicopter carried out a strike against armored vehicles and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of the Kursk Region. Footage of the combat mission was published by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 20.

The crew carried out a combat mission to support units of the "North" group of troops. The pilots launched missiles according to the coordinates, successfully eliminating the targets.

After the attack, the crew performed an anti-missile maneuver at low altitude and fired heat cannons preventing the missiles from hitting the Ukrainian army's man-portable surface-to-air missile system (MANPADS).

Earlier in the day, an army aviation crew on an Mi-28NM helicopter disrupted the rotation of AFU units in the Kursk border region. The pilots carried out missile launches at specified coordinates, destroying armored vehicles and manpower of the Ukrainian army in the course of a combat mission to support ground troops.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the President of the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
