There were 422 traffic accidents in Russia over the weekend

Over the past weekend, 422 traffic accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 55 people were killed and 561 injured. At the same time, 45 of the dead were drivers and passengers of vehicles. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Monday, January 20, in the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 127 accidents, 55 of which occurred at crosswalks and 72 - outside their zone of action, 10 pedestrians were killed, another 126 were injured of varying severity. Among the injured pedestrians there were 17 children under the age of 16. With the participation of buses on the roads of Russia recorded 28 accidents in which three people were killed, another 29 road users were injured. The cause of 21 accidents involving buses were traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.

Thus, in the Tula region on a regional highway the driver of a passenger car in a prohibited place drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a local intercity bus carrying nine passengers. As a result of the accident, the driver of the passenger car was hospitalized with injuries, six passengers of the bus required medical care, after which they were sent for outpatient treatment.

In the Chelyabinsk region on a regional highway, a woman driver of a passenger car overtook the oncoming lane, where she collided with an intercity bus moving in the opposite direction with six passengers in the cabin. In the accident both the perpetrator of the collision and her passenger were killed. Four passengers of the bus, including a seven-year-old girl, were injured and hospitalized, another bus passenger was sent for outpatient treatment after medical care.

With the participation of minors over the weekend 47 accidents were registered, as a result of which 53 young road users were injured, including 34 passengers. Two child passengers died.

Thus, in St. Petersburg on the Obvodnoy Canal embankment, the driver of a passenger car at an unregulated intersection at the exit to the main road did not give advantage in traffic and collided with another passenger car driven by a woman driver. After the collision, the second car drove off the road and hit the curb and metal fence of the embankment, and then overturned into the canal. The female driver and her 14-year-old daughter, who was in the front passenger seat and wearing a seat belt, were killed in the accident.

In the Republic of Bashkortostan on a regional highway in the afternoon, the driver of a passenger car drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with another passenger car. As a result of the accident, the nine-year-old daughter of the perpetrator of the accident, who was in the back seat with a seat belt fastened, died. The female passenger of the same car was injured and was hospitalized, while the injured passenger of the second car was sent for outpatient treatment after medical care.

The traffic police urged motorists to take into account the requirements of markings, road signs and traffic signals. It is necessary to be extremely attentive when passing intersections, especially unregulated, and not to be in a hurry to "skip" them faster, creating a hindrance to other drivers.

Earlier in the day it was reported that the State Duma has prepared a bill that proposes to increase the limit of insurance payments under CMTPL insurance from 500 thousand to 650 thousand rubles in terms of compensation for damage to life and health of victims and from 400 thousand to 520 thousand rubles in terms of compensation for damage to property.
