If you exclude fast carbohydrates, such as sugar, from your diet, your brain will start working much better in three weeks. This was reported on January 20 by Andrei Kondrakhin, a doctor, senior lecturer at the Department of Pharmacology of the Institute of Pharmacy and Medical Chemistry of Pirogov University of the Ministry of Health of Russia.

According to him, fast carbohydrates instantly affect the body, reaching the brain and causing a feeling of joy and pleasure. He noted that sugar and alcohol activate the same receptors, which leads to similar sensations.

It is specified that fast carbohydrates include not only sugar, but also fructose, candy and cakes. Kondrakhin recommended replacing them with slow carbohydrates contained in cereals, vegetables and nuts.

"Sugar has a similar effect on the body as narcotic substances - it sedates and slows down processes. If we do not eat sugar, already in three weeks we will get a good mood, there will be no nasty mucus in the mouth in the morning, and the intestines will become more stable," the doctor told "Gazeta.Ru".

Earlier, December 30, 2024, nutritionist, nutritionist Evgeny Arzamastsev said that you should eat candy on holidays, limiting yourself to two or three a day. According to the specialist, the less a person will eat sweets, the better. Constant consumption of sweets can develop first insulin resistance, then fasting hyperglycemia, and then, if other conditions are present, diabetes mellitus.
