The inauguration ceremony of US President-elect Donald Trump began in Washington on January 20. "Izvestia" is broadcasting the event live.

During the inauguration, the president will take the oath of office, promising to fulfill the duties of the head of state in accordance with the constitution, as well as outline the country's development priorities for the next four years. In addition to Trump, the new U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance will also take the oath of office.

As Trump himself said on January 17, the inauguration ceremony will be held inside the Capitol rotunda due to bad weather.

For Trump, the presidential term will be his second. He served as head of state from 2017 to 2021.

The US Congress on January 6 approved Trump's victory in the 60th presidential election held on November 5, 2024. This decision was announced by incumbent US Vice President Kamala Harris, who competed with Trump as a candidate.
