The State Duma has prepared a bill that would increase the limit of insurance payments under CMTPL insurance. This was reported by the head of the Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, Yaroslav Nilov (LDPR) in his Telegram channel on January 20.

The bill proposes to increase the limit of insurance payments under CMTPL insurance from Br500 thousand to Br650 thousand in terms of compensation for injury to life and health of victims and from Br400 thousand to Br520 thousand in terms of property damage.

The deputy noted that the current amounts of insurance compensation under the MTPL contract have not changed for 10 years. However, the past years have seriously increased both insurance rates and the cost of spare parts, repair, as well as medical services. Payment limits are now no longer sufficient, emphasized Nilov.

"Insurers are not poor at the same time: according to the statistics of the Bank of Russia, the collections of insurers on MTPL insurance for the first half of last year increased by almost 30%, and payments decreased by 1%," - pointed out the parliamentarian.

Earlier in the day, the director of the bureau "Green Card" of the Russian Union of Auto Insurers (RIA), Sergei Razuvan, said that residents of Russia and Belarus will be able to buy a common MTPL policy for the two countries from April 2025. When issuing CMTPL insurance with the extension to Belarus for cars on average will have to pay a little more than Br3 thousand, he pointed out.

January 16, it was reported that from January 27, the boundaries of the tariff corridor for CMTPL insurance will be expanded for some types of vehicles. In addition, the Bank of Russia announced that in a number of regions at the end of January, the values of the territorial coefficient (CT), which affects the cost of the policy, would be updated.
