A new malicious software called Fire Scam has appeared, dangerous for Android smartphone users, which attackers distribute via the Telegram messenger, with the help of which they steal information and track activity on the device. Vasily Shutov, a lecturer at the KB-1 Information Protection Department of RTU MIREA, told Gazeta.ru on January 20.

"One of the key features of this malware is the creation of a fake Telegram login page. When a user enters their credentials on this page, they are immediately passed to the attackers. The program also tracks active applications and user actions, intercepting sensitive information such as transaction and password data," Shutov said.

He specified that after the software receives all the information about the user, it is uploaded in real time to a common database. In this regard, fraudsters can instantly use all the information received and it will be very difficult to protect themselves, the expert said.

In addition, according to Shutov, in order to avoid losing confidential data and not to be caught by attackers, users should be careful when downloading files and clicking on various links. Shutov urged to carefully check all information and avoid unreliable sources.

Earlier, on December 29, 2024, it was reported that scammers began using a new version of the NGate Trojan virus to deceive Russians. Attackers call the victim and offer to get a financial benefit. In order to do this, the victim must click on the virus link, which is disguised as an application of any bank.
