- The crew of a T-80BV tank destroyed an AFU dugout and a gun on the Chasovoyarsk direction
A crew of a T-80BV tank of the 3rd Army Corps of the South group of forces has destroyed a dugout and artillery weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Chasovoyarsk area. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 20.
The tankers, providing support to motorized rifle units, managed to destroy an artillery gun camouflaged in a forest belt, as well as a dugout with the Ukrainian militants' formation located next to it, the ministry specified.
"We destroyed a large enemy dugout with up to a platoon [of militants] in it. By doing so, we helped our infantry advance and also pushed the front line forward," shared the tank commander with the call sign Habs.
The fighter conveyed wishes to his comrades in steadfastness, and also emphasized that the military is looked up to not only by relatives and loved ones, but also by the entire country, and the goal of all actions now is to prove that "Russia has never been defeated and will not be defeated now."
The military man also noted that he was awarded the Zhukov Medal for excellent work from closed firing positions. Such firing is widely practiced by tankers, as it reduces the risk of being spotted by the AFU. Fixing the destruction of enemy targets is done with the help of drones. After completing the task, the crew quickly leaves the combat position, returns to the rear area and waits for the next target.
Earlier, on January 19, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that tankers of the Center group of troops destroyed an AFU stronghold in the SSO zone. Despite the fact that the soldiers were under constant enemy fire, the tankers successfully destroyed the stronghold at a range of up to 5 kilometers, the Russian Defense Ministry said. At the same time, the fire was corrected by UAV operators of the Center group of troops.
