AFU militants abandoned US MaxxPro APC in Plekhovo, Kursk border region
A damaged American MaxxPro armored personnel carrier has been abandoned by Ukrainian militants in the village of Plekhovo in the border region of Kursk Region. "Izvestia" publishes footage of the equipment abandoned by the enemy.
"Here is such a beige armored personnel carrier - an American MaxxPro. On it the transfer of reserves was, at one point our FPV-drone broke through his roof and disarmed. It is still standing in Plekhovo and waiting to be evacuated," said Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak.
The Marines of the 177th Independent Guards Regiment were among the first to enter the village. The fighters assisted civilians in leaving the village, but Ukrainian militants prevented them from organizing a safe corridor. As Fedorchak noted, previously there were many intact houses in the village, but after the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) fighters were knocked out of their position, they began actively shelling residential buildings. In addition, they often threatened local residents.
"It was mostly women and old people, grandfathers. Threw grenades under their feet, taunted them. From the grenade, of course, the check was not pulled out. But these are not warriors. Normal people don't do such things," said a scout of the 177th Independent Guards Marine Regiment with the call sign Mowgli.
When retreating, the militants left behind their hit vehicles, as well as wounded and dead bodies of fellow soldiers. According to a scout with the call sign Hera, the AFU fighters "do not care, just abandoned, ran away and left." Despite the active clashes, there are many civilians left in the village and in the area who cannot evacuate.
"Very many civilians live here. A lot of them. If they had given the go-ahead to take them, we would have taken them long ago. They would have been in a safe place," said a cameraman-sapper of the 177th Separate Guards Marine Regiment with the call sign Tokar.
The fighter also shared that a large number of Ukrainian infantry defected to the neighboring village of Guevo. The Russian military continues to encircle the garrison, and plans to advance to Suja from the south after the liberation of Guevo.
Earlier, on January 19, the Defense Ministry reported that the crew of the Su-34 multirole supersonic fighter-bomber of the Russian Air Force destroyed armored vehicles and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kursk border area. It was specified that the crew, having received confirmation from intelligence about the destruction of targets, safely returned to the airfield of departure.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the President of the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
