On January 19, the Russian Figure Skating Jumping Championship - a tournament at the intersection of show and sport - came to an end in St. Petersburg. The organizers implemented the long-standing idea of the battle of the cities - Moscow and St. Petersburg, there were references to "Zenit", charges "Forward, for Peter!", in short, the decision was logical and correct. The lineups were not quite equal, but their results were balanced by the so-called Challenges, similar to master shows in the NHL or KHL Star Matches. Everything was decided by the last jump, and its performer misheard a clue from his team and almost deprived Peter of the title.

Still, there was a lot that went wrong. Sometimes it even seems that if there had not been scandals with judging, confusion with organization and even the theft of a napkin holder of one of the skaters under the evening - they should have been invented. Figure skating is no longer internalized in the mass consciousness any other way.

Petrosyan and Kondratyuk almost saved Moscow

The tournament consisted of five rounds (according to the regulations - six, but the sixth was not held) and Challenges. St. Petersburg immediately went into the lead - and that was expected. In pairs Mishina/Gallyamov defeated Mukhortova/Evgenyev, then St. Petersburg singles players calmly did triple axels, essentially fighting with the Moscow girls, who were forced to take risks and go for trixels.

The picture was becoming more and more obvious, but then Channel One made a move and announced the Challenges. The first one was to make as many jumps as possible in 30 seconds. This is a kind of creative outlet, very necessary for figure skaters. Challenges should be scaled and encrusted - the viewer does not want to watch two programs all year long in the era of clip thinking. The second is a jump with a beautiful movement of hands, and it rather turned out monotonous.

But the main thing is that the Reds' leaders Adelia Petrosyan and Mark Kondratyuk sharply joined the fight. You could see how Mark was worried about the defeat of his team, was angry and wanted to pull like the leader of the national team at the last stage of the biathlon relay. And he did in 30 seconds with eight jumps, scoring 73 points. Petrosyan went to the studio to argue that she was not allowed to jump her 30 seconds without warming up. And absolutely rightly she got the second attempt. In general, the heat of passion and confrontation was created. At the same time without resorting to personalities and maintaining a friendly atmosphere. Keeping this fragile balance is a very delicate art.

An important event happened in the third round - Vladislav Dikidzhi jumped a quadruple axel for the first time in the history of competitions. But it cannot be considered as a full-fledged jump: firstly, Vladislav dropped the attempt that was counted for the competition, and performed the jump as an encore. Secondly, it was not a jump for hire. So I suggest to consider the race for the kvaxel still open.

Chaos in the final

In the end, as the organizers probably wanted, everything was decided in the last round and even in the last jump element - a cascade of five jumps. Gleb Lutfullin, a representative of the Northern Capital, was completing the round, and it was as if he heard in the general noise that there was no need to take risks - and to do five double axels, which is a rather cheap jump. In fact, he was being yelled at for a triple.

The blue team thought they had lost - but through a clean execution they got the points they needed. The distance between the capital and the second city of the country at the end of three hours was only two points - 480 by 482.

However, the Reds went into contention. It was surprising to observe how emotionally Kondratyuk essentially communicated with the general director of the federation Alexander Kogan during the awarding - actively gesticulating and shrugging his shoulders. His former girlfriend Alexandra Ignatova (Trusova) was also dissatisfied. The explanation: Muscovite Daniil Samsonov had done his cascade before Lutfullin, and he was not credited with four jumps out of five because of an error on the first quadruple salchow. And the Salchow itself was rated strangely - "-5" even without a fall.

And in such chaos, among arguing rivals, the Blues won their title. There is a special charm of ours in this - even in the conditions of suspension we will still make a fight like ISU does not have. That's why we want to keep such tournaments even later, after returning abroad.

And in the evening it also became known that some unknown people stole a napkin holder from Sofia Muravyeva - the figure skater even gave the thieves time until morning, and then promised to go to the police. Her fans said that they know the appearance of the robber.
