The Guardian predicted Trump's first steps as US president
US President-elect Donald Trump is ready to change the traditional presidential scenario and has prepared more than 100 executive orders that he may sign on the first day of his presidency. This was reported by The Guardian newspaper on January 19.
According to the publication, among the decrees that Trump may sign on the first day of his assumption of office as head of state on January 20, 2025, include: a program of mass deportation of migrants, the declaration of a state of emergency at the border, the introduction of a 25% tariff on American exports.
Trump has also previously said he would consider pardoning protesters on January 6, 2021 "perhaps in the first nine minutes of his presidency."
The newspaper added that Trump's most repeated promise over the past year was his pledge to end the conflict in Ukraine before he even took office.
"I know [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky very well (his term expires in May 2024 - Ed.), and I know [Russian President Vladimir] Putin very well <...> they respect me," the newspaper quoted Trump as saying.
However, he later said that "the Middle East is easier to deal with than what is happening with Russia and Ukraine," the material says.
It is specified that one of the most controversial decisions may be the abolition of automatic citizenship for children born on the territory of the country from parents - non-citizens of the United States. This is a direct contradiction to the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and is likely to cause immediate constitutional problems.
Earlier, on January 15, Trump's first possible steps after the inauguration were listed by American political scientist Rafael Ordukhanyan. The expert noted that a simple and easy settlement of the Ukrainian conflict will not happen even with Trump's arrival.
Before that, on January 10, Trump once again emphasized the need to "end" the Ukrainian conflict. He added that he was preparing for a meeting with the Russian president after his inauguration scheduled for January 20.
