- Paratroopers of the Russian Armed Forces took part in the baptismal service in the Kherson region
Russian paratroopers from the Dnipro troop grouping took part in the Epiphany service in one of the chapels in Kherson Region and also took a dip in the ice-hole. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 19.
After the end of the festive service in the chapel, the water was blessed by military priests. All willing military personnel, both Orthodox and those practicing other religions, were able to take a dip in the baptismal font.
"It is joyful that it turns out to meet this holiday together with everyone, despite the military, difficult everyday life. And at least a little distraction, remember these moments, because this holiday is familiar to everyone since childhood," - shared the assistant commander of the Guards Airborne Assault Compound on work with believers, Priest Stanislav.
He also noted that Epiphany is a good moment to remember the traditional values that the Russian military protects. Quoting the commander Alexander Suvorov, Priest Stanislav recalled the saying "We are Russians, God is with us."
"As the situation at the front shows, our fighters with faith in their hearts move forward. And the enemy, who turns away from God, retreats," he said.
Earlier, on January 18, the Defense Ministry reported that the soldiers of the "West" group of troops also took a dip in the ice-hole on the Feast of the Epiphany. Father Andrei, assistant commander of the All-Russian Army for work with believers, blessed the font before the holiday bathing and blessed all those present.
