A 37-year-old local resident and her 14-year-old daughter were killed when a Mercedes car fell into the Obvodny Channel in St. Petersburg, a criminal case has been opened over the accident. About it on Saturday, January 18, reported in the press service of the city Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"A 14-year-old girl was extracted from the car, who died at the scene of the accident. Her 37-year-old mother, the driver of the car, was taken in serious condition to the hospital, where she later also died," the police said.
As specified the source of "Izvestiya", the deceased woman had another young child and a husband.
The criminal case is initiated under the article on violation of traffic rules, causing the death of two persons by negligence. The investigation continues.
About the fact that the car with people collapsed into the Obvodny channel after the accident and drowned, it was reported earlier in the day. According to preliminary data, another car crashed into the car at the intersection, after which the driver mixed up the pedals and pressed on the gas, as a result of which the Mercedes knocked down the embankment fence grating and fell into the water.
