The AFU lost more than 210 soldiers on the Kursk direction over the day
The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kursk region amounted to more than 210 military personnel over the day. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 18.
"Over the day the losses of the AFU amounted to more than 210 servicemen, destroyed an armored personnel carrier, five armored fighting vehicles, nine vehicles, an artillery gun and two mortars, as well as an ammunition depot and a UAV control point", - stated in the summary of the department.
In total, the enemy lost more than 52,660 servicemen and 304 tanks during the fighting in the specified direction.
Earlier in the day, the Defense Ministry reported that the crew of a Ka-52M helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group disrupted the rotation of Ukrainian units in the border area of the Kursk region. The pilots, carrying out a combat mission to support ground troops, launched missiles at specified coordinates.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
