FRG Major General Recognizes Russia's Growing Military Potential
FRG Major General Christian Freuding has called for an increase in Russia's military potential. He made the corresponding statement in an interview with the Welt am Sonntag newspaper on January 18.
"We observe that the Russian armed forces are not only able to compensate for their personnel and material losses independently and with the support of partners, but are also successfully rearming," Freuding emphasized.
He said the number of tanks, ammunition, missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at the disposal of the Russian army is constantly increasing, emphasizing the build-up of production capacities.
Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, chairwoman of the European Parliament's subcommittee on security and defense, confirmed Freuding's words, Gazeta.Ru specifies. She noted the significant number and variety of weapons in the Russian forces.
Earlier, on January 6, the media reported that Russian Iskander-M ballistic missiles have increased the vulnerability of armaments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
Prior to that, on December 16, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia had created much more advanced strike complexes than those currently possessed by the United States.
Also last December, the new European Commissioner for Defense Andrius Kubilius admitted that Russia is expanding its defense industry despite sanctions. According to him, among other things, Russia is producing and storing more tanks than it deploys on the front lines.
