Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Alex Nedeljkovic became the first goalie in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL) to score a puck and give a goal in one game.

The meeting of his team against the Buffalo Sabres took place on Saturday, January 18, and ended with a score of 5-2 in favor of the Penguins. In addition, the American goalie reflected 40 of 42 shots on his goal, becoming the first star of the match.

In the history of the Pittsburgh Penguins, only one goalie has managed to throw the puck - in 2023, it was Tristan Jarry. Before Nedeljkovic, only 15 goalies had scored goals in NHL games.

The day before, Russian forward and captain of the Washington Capitals hockey club Alexander Ovechkin scored a puck in overtime of the regular season National Hockey League match against the Ottawa Senators, thereby reducing the gap with Canadian Wayne Gretzky to 20 goals.
