The crew of a Ka-52M helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group has disrupted the rotation of Ukrainian units in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 18.

The pilots, performing a combat mission to support ground troops, launched missiles at specified coordinates. Having destroyed armored vehicles and personnel of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) units, the servicemen performed anti-missile maneuvering at extremely low altitude with firing of heat traps. The successful destruction was confirmed by an advanced aviation gunner.

Earlier, on January 17, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that FPV drone calculations destroyed AFU manpower and equipment in the Kursk border area. After the attack, the servicemen changed the launch point so that the enemy could not track their position.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the President of the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
