As a result of shelling of Gorlovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), five people were injured. This was reported by the head of the region Denis Pushilin on January 17.

Also injured were women born in 1960, 1970, 1960 and 1976. All the injured were given the necessary medical care, Pushilin added.

In addition, during the explosion of submunitions of Ukrainian militants, the glazing of the lyceum was damaged. The head of the DNR specified that the AFU carried out about 10 armed attacks with the use of 155-millimeter cluster-type artillery.

Earlier in the day, the mayor of the city Ivan Prikhodko reported that a resident of Horlivka was wounded as a result of shelling of the city's Stroitel residential area. It was reported that since the beginning of the day, the AFU had fired two artillery shellings of the city using 155-millimeter artillery.

Before that, on January 16, the head of the DNR Denis Pushilin said that three civilians were injured in the Nikitovsky district of Gorlovka as a result of attacks by the AFU. A woman born in 1964 and two men born in 1958 and 1952 were injured when an explosive object from a Ukrainian drone was dropped on a car. They were given medical assistance.
