Resident of Nizhny Novgorod region fined 4 million rubles for rehabilitating Nazism
The court in Nizhny Novgorod region fined a local resident for 4 million rubles for disrespecting the exploits of the Heroes of the USSR during the Great Patriotic War. This was reported on January 17 in the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the region.
"The court sentence imposed on the man a penalty in the form of a fine of 4 million rubles with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to the administration of sites and placement of materials in public networks, including the Internet, for a period of three years", - stated in the Telegram-channel of the department.
According to investigators, in March 2023, the convict posted distorted information about veterans and their exploits, desecrating the symbol of Russia's military glory and insulting the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland. A criminal case was opened under part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Rehabilitation of Nazism"), under which the man was found guilty.
According to TASS with reference to the press service of the Federal Security Service of the region, the agency together with the main department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Nizhny Novgorod region found that the defendant committed public acts of disrespect and mockery of the exploits of Heroes of the USSR Alexander Matrosov and Alexei Maresiev.
Earlier, on January 10, a court in Moscow fined a Russian for Nazi salute in the subway on New Year's Eve. At the same time, the man demonstrated the relevant symbols. It was reported that he pleaded guilty.
