Russians and Finns are actively selling real estate in Estonia, while the number of transactions for its purchase has decreased significantly. This was reported on January 17 by the Estonian newspaper Postimees with reference to the data of the portal for buying and selling Kinnisvara24.

"Last year, foreigners made twice as many sales transactions as purchases on the Estonian real estate market, with Russians and Finns selling the most," the publication said.

So, according to the publication, in 2024 on the real estate market in the largest Estonian county Harjumaa citizens of Russia made only 28 purchases, Finns - 55. As for the sale of real estate in this city, Russians and Finnish citizens made 168 and 176 transactions respectively.

In total in the metropolitan county of Harjumaa foreign nationals made 308 deals on the purchase and a record 670 deals on the sale of real estate. It is noted that many foreigners sell real estate purchased for investment purposes, amid the unstable situation in the local rental housing market

Earlier in the day, Estonian Minister of Education and Science Kristina Kallas said that the country should abolish the category of stateless persons in the next 10 years. In her opinion, there should be no more people with undetermined citizenship status in Estonia.

At the same time, it became known that the Estonian authorities do not intend to introduce new restrictions on entry for citizens of Russia and Belarus, following Latvia, where the country's parliament introduced a bill proposing to tighten the rules for citizens of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
